Allergies and other gunk                                   Mar 17 10
My chest hurts so bad. I have an interview tomorrow which I'm pretty sure I will be going to. Another student assistant job...I can never get an interview for a real job! I will probably be coughing my lungs up tomorrow. My nose, head, and the rest of my body is doing pretty well. My lungs feel like they are on fire and I'm pretty fatigued. I'm also a day behind. I thought today was Tuesday for some reason and missed out a temp agencies' orientation. I guess I'll go next week.

There has been a lot of open exams to start an IT career at my state government (might as well say local since all the jobs are here). I don't know if the Lord is giving me a sign to continue to pursue a career in IT or just leave it alone. I don't even like the aspects of IT anymore. I hate programming, even though the jobs I would be pursuing would be entry level management type jobs. I wanted to do that from the get-go, but to get there you need...PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE. I don't think I would get hired because I hate programming and don't know certain languages. My whole reason for getting into IT was web development, but I grew to hate that too. I guess you can say Web Development/IT was my first career. I've been doing it since I was 11 years old.

Lately, I've been thinking about what type of careers I can do now, since I hate IT and don't want to pursue that anymore. A career that:
-can't be outsourced and is stable
-pretty easy to obtain in my hometown (doesn't take 10,000 applications to get)
-won't put me into too much more debt
-if I need/want to can relocate whenever I want and still be able to find work easily (I want to move to Texas one day)
-a job that fits my personality
-a job I will find at least somewhat enjoyable

I just need a job, shit any job right now. I just want to live as cheaply as possible, save my cash, pay buck these dumb student loans, and buy a successful laundromat. I'm not trying to work forever!

I came up with these:
-Science/Math Teacher
PROS: Will take me about a year, I can get pretty good financial aid I won't necessarily have to pay back, I can get loan repayment if I can stick it out for 5 years, very stable, supposedly there is a shortage so I should find a job really quickly, salary is decent, work while pursuing credential, possibly one day move into a computer teacher position
CONS: Who knows what the students will be like?
-Get my Masters in Finance and take free accounting courses at the local college
PROS: Versatile degree, open to many careers, can work anywhere, I'm leaning towards a Contract Specialist career with the feds or a government contractor
CONS: More debt, may be harder to find a job with all the laid off workers, takes longer
-Stick with IT and get a Masters in IT
PROS: Already have experience, I know what to expect
CONS: More debt, H1Bs, government job may not come through, may require security clearance, no mobility

Also, I'm damn tired of people asking why don't I pursue a career in IT like it is so damn good or something. I'm pretty sure that is why I don't get called in for interviews. I don't want to make up shit on my resume, but I just might have to. Hell, foreigners do it all the time. Why shouldn't I? I just want a fair chance at a job without being known as the 'IT Girl'.

Matter of fact I went on an interview a few weeks ago and the job involved nothing but filing. The guy asked me to teach him XHTML!?!? I'm like wtf? I told him yes for a fee. I guess that's why I didn't get the job. I don't do anything for free...
